Cancer research grant open to junior faculty

Applications are being sought for awards from the University’s American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant, a program that provides seed money for new projects initiated by junior faculty members.

Awards of up to $20,000 will be made for one year.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. Oct. 6.

Eligibility is limited to instructors and assistant professors who are within eight years of their first independent research or faculty appointment. Individuals who have previously received this award or major grants from the National Insti-tutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the American Cancer Society or Veterans Affairs are not eligible.

Applicants must include a letter from the department chair verifying that the applicant is an independent investigator. All new cancer-related research involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the Siteman Cancer Center Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee and the Human Studies Committee.
