Tango Group at Washington University to present dance Jan. 21; music by Farshid Etniko

The Tango Group at Washington University will launch its spring season with a tango/swing/salsa dance from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21.

The event will begin with a half-hour introduction to salsa dancing, followed at 9 p.m. with a performance by the band Farshid Etniko. Music includes original compositions as well as jazz standards and songs featuring a Latin flavor and Persian touch.

Subsequent spring events will include a dance and tango workshop Feb. 25-27 hosted by the renowned Argentine dancer Alicia Ponds from Buenos Aires.
