WUSTL ranked 11th by U.S. News & World Report

Washington University in St. Louis — consistently ranked among America’s 20 best national universities — is ranked 11th for undergraduate programs among the nation’s best 248 national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Last year WUSTL was tied for 11th place.

This year’s results, published in the weekly edition of U.S. News and its America’s Best Colleges guide, rank WUSTL fourth in financial resources; fifth in faculty resources (an increase of one spot over last year’s rankings); sixth in selectivity (an increase of two spots); and ninth in alumni giving.

WUSTL also ranked 10th in highest proportion of classes under 20 students; 20th in the best values category; and 17th in graduation and retention (an increase of two spots).

The Olin School of Business undergraduate program is ranked as the 12th best business school among national universities, tied with Cornell, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The School of Engineering & Applied Science undergraduate program is ranked 41st, tied with seven other schools, including Dartmouth, Notre Dame, Yale and Vanderbilt.

The U.S. News undergraduate rankings are derived from peer assessments by university chief executive officers, provosts and admissions deans, as well as from data gathered from each institution. These data are broken down into categories and assigned a weight reflecting the magazine’s judgment about which measures of quality matter most.
