International Business Outlook Conference focuses on international business solutions

W. Roy Dunbar from Mastercard is keynote speaker

The fifth annual International Business Outlook Conference (IBOC) will take place Friday, April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s conference, “International Business in Action,” will showcase several Olin School of Business M.B.A. students who have provided leadership in finding international business solutions for global organizations. The goal of the conference is to provide cutting-edge information to St. Louis-area business professionals on how to address challenges in the international arena.

IBOC takes place at the Charles F. Knight Center on Washington University’s Danforth Campus.

This year’s keynote speaker is W. Roy Dunbar, President, Global Technology and Operations, MasterCard Worldwide. Breakout session speakers are Dave McCalpin, Chief Marketing Officer, General Electric Company; Jean-Paul Montupet, Executive Vice President, Emerson; Carl Casale, Execuite Vice President, Monsanto; and Porter P Lowry II, Curator, Missouri Botanical Garden.

Organizations such as GE, Emerson, Monsanto, and the Missouri Botanical Garden have identified key international business issues, assigning related research objectives to MBA student teams. Students will propose solutions based on in-country research to IBOC attendees. Afterward, a senior executive from each company will address these and other issues that companies are currently facing in the international arena.

After lunch, David Nicklaus, business columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch will moderate a global economic forum. Participants in the forum are Paul Kasriel, Vice President and Director of Economic Research, The Northern Trust Co.; Wistar Holt, Partner, Holt & Shapard Capital Management; and David Meyer, Visiting Professor, Olin School of Business
