“I take pride in supporting Republican candidates in elections at all levels of government,” says the president of the University’s College Republicans.

Fischer has kept busy organizing campaign volunteers who have logged many hours working the phones, knocking on doors and hosting speakers for campus events. She says she’s excited to see the national spotlight focused on WUSTL.

“I know many schools vie for the opportunity to host a debate, and to be a part of an institution that is lucky enough to have one is a fantastic educational opportunity,” she says.

Fischer is also interested in hearing how the candidates will address important topics.

“The issues that are being discussed in this campaign, such as energy and health care, are very important to me, and it will be extremely informative to see Gov. Palin and Sen. Biden describe their positions on these topics,” she says. “After several years of being involved with the College Republicans and campaigning at the grassroots level, it’s exciting to have the national stage come to us.”
