Freshman Lee Ann Felder scored the game-winning goal on a diving header in the 85th minute as the No. 15 Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team remained unbeaten in conference play with a 2-1 victory over Brandeis University on Sunday afternoon at Francis Field in St. Louis, Mo.

Felder, who took the team lead with her sixth goal of the season, headed home the cross from senior Caitlin Malone for her second game-winner of the season.

The Bears came out sluggish again for the second-straight game, but managed to outshoot Brandeis 7-2 in the first half. Washington University also had six corners in the first 45 minutes of play.

Washington U. finally found the net in the 44th minute as freshman Emma Brown corralled a loose ball in front of the net and beat Brandeis goalkeeper Hillary Rosenzweig with a shot to the far corner.

Brandeis (8-5-1, 2-2 UAA) knotted the score at 1-1 in the 73rd minute as Abby Shields retrieved a long cross from Tiffany Pachecho and settled at the back post, before firing a shot past senior Amanda Boe.

Boe picked up her 11th win of the season in the nets making two saves. Washington U. outshot Brandeis 12-6 and had an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Washington University (11-2-1, 4-0 UAA) steps out of conference play on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9:30 a.m., at home against No. 12 Rhodes College. The Lynx enter the contest on a three-game winning streak, but will have not played in 13 days.
