WUSTL flag at half-staff in honor of Police Sergeant Michael King

Visitation and funeral arrangements have been finalized for University City Police Sergeant Michael King, who was killed in the line of duty this past weekend. Visitation will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lupton Chapel, 7233 Delmar Blvd. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 7200 Delmar Blvd., at the corner of Delmar and Overhill Drive, in University Hills subdivision. Burial will immediately follow the funeral services at Sunset Memorial Park, 10180 Gravois Road in Affton.

Parking for the visitation and funeral will be available along Delmar Blvd., in University Hills subdivision and in University Park subdivision (on streets off Midland Blvd.). On Tuesday, family, visitors and dignitaries are encouraged to come easterly on Delmar from Hanley and park, to the extent possible, heading easterly for the ease of the funeral procession.

Sergeant King was a 1980 graduate of Washington University, a lifelong University City resident and 25-year veteran of the University City Police Department. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and his parents Dr. M. Kenton and June King of University City. Dr. M. Kenton King served as dean of the Washington University School of Medicine from 1964 to 1989. June King is a 1953 graduate of the School of Nursing.
