Enrichment with a purpose

Mike Knipschild (left) hangs a fluorescent light fixture with help from Brian Woll in a classroom at the North Side Community School in St. Louis. Woll is a student, along with Knipschild’s wife Barb, in University College’s Nonprofit Management program. Students in the “Volunteer Resource Management” class conducted a service project at the charter school July 24, painting rooms, assembling furniture and hanging boards and light fixtures. “Service learning like this enhances the program’s curriculum, helping us connect what we learn in the classroom to the real world’s needs,” Woll says. “It was a fantastic experience.” To learn more about the Nonprofit Management Program and other programs offered through University College, attend Preview Night at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, in Holmes Lounge.
