It’s hard to believe — as summer temperatures hover in the 90 degree-range — that some children will be returning to school in a few weeks. To ensure that all students have the best opportunity to learn and thrive, Washington University School of Medicine is again sponsoring its annual school supply drive to benefit Adams Elementary School in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood.
The school supply drive runs from July 26–Aug. 11. Some 335 students (Kindergarten through 6th grade) at Adams stand to benefit from the generosity of School of Medicine students, faculty and staff.
An added incentive for donors is the annual Missouri tax-free holiday, this year held Aug. 6–8, during which the state’s 4.225 percent sales tax is not assessed on certain purchases made in Missouri, including clothing, school supplies and computers. So, think back to your own school days — the excitement of a new notebook, clean white, lined paper and freshly sharpened pencils — and give generously.
