Five tons of care and counting

Sid Hastings

Jill Edwards (back, in gray), project manager for university accreditation programs, and members of the Gateway Battalion Army ROTC pack boxes of donated home-baked goods, snacks, batteries, toiletries and more to send in care packages to U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan Oct. 1. That day at Washington University’s North Campus lunchroom, the WUSTL military care package group — which is led by Edwards and organizes the mailings throughout the year — surpassed five tons of goods donated by the WUSTL community and mailed overseas to soldiers since the group formed in March 2004. For more information about the group or to donate, e-mail Edwards at jilledwards@wustl.edu.
