Embracing the magic of Harry Potter

Yasemin Kuyumcu, a freshman in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, heads downfield toward the goal during a game of Quidditch in the South 40 Swamp Nov. 15 as part of Harry Potter Week. Kuyumcu was part of the team from Lee/Beaumont Residential College that topped the team from Liggett/Koenig Residential College, 50-40. The college councils from those residential colleges, as well as from William Greenleaf Eliot and JKL, organized Harry Potter Week to celebrate the opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, which premieres in St. Louis at midnight Thursday, Nov. 18. More than any other group, this generation of students has grown up with the Harry Potter books and films, the last of which will debut next summer with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. More than 500 students have purchased tickets for local midnight screenings of the film.
