Virgin IV, MD, PhD, the Edward Mallinckrodt Professor and head of Pathology and Immunology, director of the Midwest Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research, and professor of molecular microbiology and of medicine, has received a three-year, $930,000 grant from the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America for research titled “Virome and Crohn’s Disease (CD) Pathogenesis.”

Obituary

Klippel, School of Medicine faculty for 48 years, 87

Allen P. Klippel, MD, assistant professor emeritus of medicine and assistant professor emeritus of clinical surgery, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, of natural causes in St. Louis. He was 87. He joined the clinical faculty in 1954 and the full-time faculty in 1969. He retired in 2002.
