Sharing best practices

Undergraduate research
Henry Biggs, PhD, associate dean in Arts & Sciences and director of the Office of Undergraduate Research, welcomes some 150 Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) members to the Gateways to Best Practices for Undergraduate Research Program Directors Conference, held June 14-16 at Washington University. CUR is a national organization comprising faculty and administrators who share the mission of supporting and promoting high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship. “As undergraduate research continues to gain national recognition as a high-impact learning experience, it becomes even more important to come together to share ideas, strategies and best practices,” Biggs told the group during an opening reception at the Knight Center. WUSTL’s undergraduate research office also hosted CUR’s 33rd Annual Business Meeting on campus June 16-18, which brought together about 200 members of CUR’s governing body to discuss organizational issues and set strategies for the coming year.
