Washington University alumni and parents are among the top leaders in their fields. Many possess a wealth of invaluable information that they are eager to share. Throughout the year, the Alumni Association hosts several events that allow them to do just that — benefiting the entire university community.

ASK: Alumni Sharing Knowledge is one of the more popular university club networking events. Experts on a variety of subjects lead discussions, which are held all over the country multiple times each year. ASK allows participants the opportunity to connect with others in their own cities and build professional relationships.

Last May, 90 alumni, parents and friends gathered at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles to hear from leaders in the entertainment industry. Members of the panel discussed their experiences and career progression, advising others how to enter and advance in entertainment.

For example, Stuart Krasnow, AB ’83, owner of Krasnow Productions, advised participants to “launch something international that is successful and bring that idea back to the United States because executives will pay attention.” Jeffrey Tremaine, BFA ’89, a film and television producer, encouraged everyone to stay firm in their creativity. “Stay true to what you started out to do,” Tremaine says. “Usually, it’s the best idea.”
