Media Advisory: Move-in day Aug. 25 for WUSTL freshmen

WHO: Nearly 1,500 Washington University in St. Louis freshmen are arriving for the 2011-12 academic year that begins Aug. 30. A large number of them will move into the South 40 residence halls on Thursday, Aug. 25, the main move-in day for first-year students.

WHAT: With help from family, friends and upperclassmen, the freshmen will be hauling everything from refrigerators and microwaves to carpets, bicycles and stereo systems into their new homes away from home. Trucks, vans, minivans and U-Hauls will line the South 40 driveways.

WHERE: Washington University’s South 40. Enter at Wydown Boulevard and Shepley Drive (near intersection of Wydown and Big Bend boulevards).

WHEN: All day Thursday, Aug. 25. The best time will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

NOTE: Please call (314) 935-5230 if you plan on coming to the South 40 so that someone from the University News Service office will be there to assist you. Also, please note that parking will be very limited on the South 40.
