First barbecue, then business school

Mahendra Gupta, PhD (right), dean and the Geraldine J. and Robert L. Virgil Professor of Accounting and Management, serves up a hamburger during the Olin Business School’s annual back to school cookout in the Simon Hall courtyard Aug. 30. Next to Gupta is Annette Veech, PhD, senior lecturer in business communications. The barbecue, held the first day of classes, welcomed business students to the new academic year and featured food and live music. More than 950 plates of food and 600 pieces of cake were served. Also serving Olin students that day were (from left) Eli Snir, PhD, lecturer in management; Steve Malter, BSBA assistant dean for student development and strategic initiatives; and Jenn Schmich, administrative coordinator for MBA platforms, the Institute for Innovation and Growth, and the Center for Finance and Accounting Research.
