Diversity collaborative seeks new members

The Campus Diversity Collaborative, which aims to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion issues at Washington University in St. Louis, is seeking new members among faculty and staff.

The group meets approximately every other month for training and meetings, with special programs and opportunities to train others several times per year.

Staff members who participate do not necessarily have diversity promotion as an official job duty, but share a passion for the issue and are able to impact the greater WUSTL community through their participation.

Founded in 2007, the group provides resources and tools that empower community members to build a tone of good will, along with the ability to talk frankly, about issues of diversity and inclusion.

Current initiatives include: diversity training and continued professional education for the campus community via workshops, programs and facilitated discussions; acting as a resource for students and groups; and building community awareness through forums.

Recent forums include: promoting and hiring for jobs with diversity and inclusion in mind; bullying in the LGBT community; and challenges faced by undocumented students.
