Doctoral students (from left) BharatKumar Suthar (energy, environmental & chemical engineering), Leandro Medina de Oliveira, (physics in Arts & Sciences) and Antonio Zanutto (biomedical engineering), all students in the McDonnell International Scholars Academy, pose for a picture during an evening cruise to see the Manhattan skyline. Each spring, the academy takes scholars to New York City or Washington, D.C., as part of its leadership training program. This year, the scholars visited New York, giving them an opportunity to experience firsthand the financial and cultural capital of the United States. While there March 11-14, the scholars met many leaders, including those from the financial sector and international politics. They visited Yankee Stadium, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Gracie Mansion home of the New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, among other sites. Wrighton (center) and the scholars on a March 12 tour of the site. Daniels earned a master’s degree in history from WUSTL in 1994. (Credits: Joe Angeles/Washington University)
