Wilson among most-cited authors

For the second consecutive year, Richard Wilson, PhD, director of Washington University’s Genome Institute, was named as one of the world’s most-cited scientific authors, according to Thomson Reuters Science Watch. The annual survey tracks research across various scientific disciplines to determine which papers published in the past two years were cited most often by other scientists.

For the 2011 survey, Wilson was listed among the top 11 researchers with the most-cited papers. He had 10 “hot” papers that included genomic sequencing-based studies of leukemia, ovarian cancer and glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor.

Genetics was the most popular field of scientific research cited by Science Watch. Seven of the top 15 researchers worked in the field of genetics.
