Obituary: Winker, patient service representative, 49


Frances “Fran” (nee Maric) Winker, a patient service representative in orthopedic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in an accident on Interstate 44 in Oakland. She was 49.

Winker, of south St. Louis County, joined Washington University in September 2011 and quickly endeared herself to patients and co-workers with her friendliness, high energy and great sense of humor.

“She was always very attentive to the patients, always very accommodating — just a joy,” said Jackie Sills, Winker’s supervisor.

A funeral Mass was held Monday at Assumption Catholic Church of Mattese, in south St. Louis County. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in south St. Louis County.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Joe Winker; children, Jessica, Nicole and Joe Winker; father, Damian Maric of south St. Louis County; and sister, Theresa Wright (Sean), of south St. Louis County.
