Next military care package mailing scheduled

The deadline to make contributions for the next Washington University Military Care Package mailing is 10:30 a.m. March 20.

The Washington University military care package group has been sending snacks, sporting goods, toiletries, baked goods and other needed items to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since March 2004. Since then, the group has sent nearly 15,000 pounds of packages and approximately 18,000 baked goods.

The group is made up of university staff, faculty, students and administrators and friends of WUSTL who volunteer time and money to send the care packages.

Suggested items (no aerosol or glass containers, please) include: coffee, air fresheners, lotions, nuts, dried fruit, jerky, drink mixes, trail mix, chap stick, liquid bath soap,
hand sanitizer, socks, DVDs, microwave popcorn, and individually wrapped snacks and nutrition bars, among other items. Financial contributions to help with postage are always appreciated also.
