Charity run to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters this weekend

Take Steps for Kids is holding its annual charity run – with 5K and 1-mile options – this weekend.

Take Steps for Kids is a WUSTL student-run organization, and the event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, a youth mentoring organization. Members of the WUSTL community, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the greater St. Louis area can join together to run or walk through WUSTL’s Danforth Campus.

Activities begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Brookings Quadrangle. The mile race begins at 5 p.m. and the 5K at 5:30 p.m. Races will conclude with a kids’ 150-yard dash.

The family-friendly event includes jugglers, a balloon man and a performance by a WUSTL a cappella group, The Stereotypes. Take Steps for Kids is the largest student-run 5K in the state.

Big River Running Co. will professionally time the race, and top finishers by age and gender groups in both the 5K and mile runs will receive awards.
