Carter to lead international education and research in engineering school

Dedric A. Carter, PhD, has been named associate dean for international education and research and professor of the practice in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis.

In the newly created role, Carter will serve as ambassador-at-large for the McDonnell International Scholars Academy and develop international research partnerships with McDonnell Academy partners; develop graduate, professional certificate and summer programs for international students; and work with corporate partners to provide undergraduate and graduate practice opportunities abroad.

He also will provide support for entrepreneurship programs in the school, and as professor of the practice, he will begin teaching a course in fall 2013 emphasizing the role of scientists and engineers in policy formation.
