The Peacock Loop Diner will feature an expansive menu of breakfast classics, diner staples, international favorites, salads, vegetarian dishes, desserts and a full bar.

The Peacock Loop Diner and new grocery store, Global
Foods Market, are two of the retail tenants for The Lofts of Washington
University, the university’s $80 million retail and student apartment
development. When complete, the 4.4-acre project will comprise five
buildings, including apartments for about 600 Washington University undergraduate students.

WHEN: August 2014

WHERE: 6261 Delmar Blvd., near Eastgate Avenue.

Estimated size: 4,875 square feet. The diner’s capacity has yet to be determined and will be based on final designs.

Estimated staff: 30 to 40 employees

Interior features: Illuminated curving counters of varying heights and colors to evoke the tail feathers of a peacock, Edwards’ trademark display cases filled with peacock memorabilia and a jukebox

Why peacocks: “There is no other creature like them in nature,” Edwards says. “There is something exquisite and elegant about them and that’s what I hope the Peacock Diner becomes — an authentically unique place to go whether you are meeting friends or studying alone.”
