McKelvey encourages students to pursue goals, learn from failures


Jim McKelvey, School of Engineering & Applied Science alumnus and co-founder of Square, spoke with MBA students in Simon Hall Nov. 1 as part of the Entrepreneurship Platform Summit, organized by Cliff Holekamp, senior lecturer in entrepreneurship at Olin Business School. McKelvey is a stalwart in the startup community, having founded or co-founded Third Degree Glass Factory, the SixThirty financial technology accelerator, Cultivation Capital and Launch Code, among others. McKelvey shared his experiences with students and encouraged them to pursue their entrepreneurial goals, saying that failure is expected and is part of the learning process.
