Innovative and effective teaching was the focus of the i teach 2014 faculty symposium, held Jan. 9 in the Charles F. Knight Executive Education and Conference Center at Washington University in St. Louis. During the seventh biennial symposium, 147 WUSTL faculty and staff from all seven schools exchanged ideas on teaching with colleagues from across disciplines. Attendees could choose from 15 sessions, such as “It’s Not a Fad: Incorporating Mobile Devices into the Classroom,” “Redesigning Learning Spaces: The Active-Learning Classroom in Arts & Sciences” and “Teaching Students Effective Communication Design: Classroom as Experiential Learning Lab.” Above, Aaron Addison, director of GIS and Data Services, gives a presentation titled “Incorporating Visualization with GIS into Teaching” at the i teach symposium.
