North and Central Texas Regional Campaign Kickoff

On Feb. 19, nearly 400 alumni, parents and friends gathered at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas for the sixth regional launch of Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University. Cash Nickerson, JD ’85, MBA ’93, chair of the North and Central Texas Regional Campaign, welcomed guests to the event with remarks and a toast. Later, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton spoke about the importance of the campaign to Washington University’s future, and Andy Taylor, chair of Leading Together and executive chairman of Enterprise Holdings, discussed campaign priorities. Engineering student and Enterprise Scholar Audrey Leeka, Class of 2014, shared her experiences as a student and member of the Washington University rowing team.

The event featured a memorable Texas theme, including a call to dinner by a local auctioneer and cowboy-boot table centerpieces. Parting gifts for guests included Cash Nickerson’s book, A Texan in Tuscany, and a Wash. U. steak-grilling tool. Two members of the Austin Lyric Opera provided entertainment for the evening.

The Dallas event was the first regional launch of 2014. The North and Central Texas campaign goal of $18 million will support the Leading Together goal of $2.2 billion.
