Twice the madness, double the fun: Here come the NCAA opening-round games

Men's, women's basketball both chosen as hosts for Division III tourneys

The madness of March arrives on the Washington University in St. Louis campus this week as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are hosting opening-round games of the 2015 NCAA Division III championship tournament.

The men’s basketball team, ranked No. 14 overall, received an at-large bid and will host DePauw University in the first round at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Washington University Field House. The winner will travel to No. 8 Augustana (Ill.) College to play a second-round game Saturday, March 7.

The women’s basketball team will be hosting the first two rounds. The Bears, ranked No. 8 overall, will play Spalding University at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6. The other first-round women’s game Friday will pit No. 20 Transylvania University vs. Wittenberg University at 5 p.m. The winners of Friday’s games will square off in the second round at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

Tickets are $3 for students with an ID and $6 for adults. Washington University undergraduate students will be admitted free courtesy of the Student Union. The ticket booth will open one hour prior to game time each night.
