DiPersio named to American Cancer Society advisory group​

John DiPersio, MD, PhD, the Virginia E. and Sam J. Golman Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, has been named to the American Cancer Society’s National Medical Advisory Group for Patient Lodging.

As part of the advisory group, DiPersio will advise American Cancer Society staff members on medical issues related to the society’s 31 Hope Lodge locations. The facilities, in St. Louis and across the U.S., provide free lodging to cancer patients and their families during treatment.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, it provides grants for cancer research to the School of Medicine and other institutions.​

DiPersio also is director of the Division of Oncology and deputy director of Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, where he oversees the bone marrow and stem cell transplant program, one of the world’s largest.
