DUC Chamber Series begins Jan. 20

Chamber Music Society of St. Louis presents Joo Kim, James Czyzewski and Patti Wolf

The husband-and-wife team of violinist Joo Kim and cellist James Czyzewski will join pianist Patti Wolf for music of Beethoven, Debussy, Brahms, Mozart and more at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Danforth University Center’s Goldberg Formal Lounge on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Presented in conjunction with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, the performance will launch the Danforth University Center’s spring Chamber Music Series. Also on the program will be works by Kreisler, Granados, Copland and Haydn.

Kim and Czyzewski have both been members of the St. Louis Symphony since 2004. Czyzewski previously served as co-principal cello with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Kim has served as concertmaster of the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Japan and the Spoleto USA Orchestra, and as principal second violin with the Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra in Israel.

Wolf, a former visiting professor in Washington University’s Department of Music in Arts & Sciences, regularly appears with the St. Louis Symphony, the Chamber Music Society and the Chautauqua Symphony in New York.

Decker

The Chamber Music Series will continue Feb. 9 when Todd Decker, chair and associate professor of music, joins violinist John McGrosso for violin sonatas of Bach and Handel.

On March 21, Ensemble Schumann will perform works by Mozart, Bruch, Herzogenberg, Schumann and others, followed on April 18 by pianist Peter Henderson.

The spring series will conclude May 10 with soprano Nicole Aldrich, director of choral activities, accompanied by pianist Sandra Geary.
