Seven Washington University in St. Louis students successfully completed the Certificate in Renewable Energy and the Environment this year, the largest group to date. They were recognized during a luncheon April 22 at the Whittemore House.

The students who earned certificates this year are:

  • Sasha Berger (center), who earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and in global health and environment, both in Arts & Sciences, in May;
  • Maya DeHart (third from right), who earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, from the School of Engineering & Applied Science, in May;
  • Claire Mai, who earned a bachelor’s degree in international and area studies and development in Arts & Sciences, in May;
  • Benjamin Perlman (second from left), who earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental earth sciences in Arts & Sciences, in May;

The Photosynthetic Antenna Research Center (PARC) in partnership with the International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability (I-CARES) award the certificate, which provides an opportunity for students to pursue interdisciplinary energy studies to complement their major or minor coursework. The program combines academic studies with educational experiences, such as outreach interaction, seminars, hands-on research and networking opportunities. Learn more on the PARC site.
