Obituary: Sam Cook, former trustee, 94

Sam B. Cook, who served on the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees from 1977 to 1987, died July 15, 2016, at his home in Jefferson City, Mo. He was 94.

Cook headed Jefferson City’s Central Trust Bank and had served since 1981 as chairman of the board for both Central Trust Bank and Central Bancompany. In 2010, he endowed the Sam B. Cook Visiting Professorship in Economics in Arts & Sciences, which brings a leading economist to Washington University each year.
