Who Knew WashU? 2.21.17

Question: In honor of George Washington’s birthday, we ask this question: Outside of which building on the Danforth Campus can you find a tree directly descended from one of Washington’s trees, originally found on his Mount Vernon estate?

Answer: D) A direct descendant of one of the hundreds of trees Washington planted on his estate in Virginia is planted just north of Ridgley Hall, near the Holmes Lounge entrance. In the early 1990s, 60 seedlings descended from Washington’s trees were sent to presidential sites and Washington namesakes around the country.

Congrats to this week’s winner, Judy Sivia, who works in Alumni & Development and will receive an “I Knew WashU” luggage tag!
