Jessie Lee, a member of the First Year Center executive board, is one of five students nationwide to win the Jordan Smith Undergraduate Fellowship from the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina.

The fellowship honors undergraduate students for their outstanding work on behalf of first-year students and  the impact their efforts have on the students and the culture of their institutions.

Lee, a junior in Arts & Sciences, has been involved in several initiatives to welcome new students. She has helped organize fall orientation, recruited and trained Washington University Student Associates (WUSAs) and served as student supervisor for Summer Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR).

Lee will be formally recognized Monday, Feb. 12, at the Annual Conference on The First-Year Experience in San Antonio.
