A number of people with connections to Washington University in St. Louis were named New Leaders Council Institute fellows.
They include two Brown School students, two staff members and five alumni.
The New Leaders Council works to promote progressive thought leadership among millennials. Each fellow has access to a six-month training program that prepares participants to run for office, manage campaigns and lead startups. Fellows then take that training and experience back to their communities to serve as civic leaders.
Brown School students selected include first-year student Clair Ellen Antoine and second-year student Ashley Kuykendall.
Staff members selected are Steven Harowitz, associate director for campus life, and Purvi Patel, assistant director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
Brown School alumni who were honored include: Sarah Arnosky, deputy managing director of Arch to Park Collaborative; Abby Buckhouse, financial well-being coach at Operation HOPE; Jessica Estes, a community organizer with Missourians Organizing for Reform & Empowerment; and Alyssa Lazzeroni, care manager at the Missouri Alliance for Children and Families. School of Engineering & Applied Science alum David Dwight, who now works at the Forward Through Ferguson organization, is also a fellow.
