Newly renovated Campus Store hosts celebration Aug. 29

Expanded store features new entrance, updated interior and more open floor plan

Renovations at Washington University in St. Louis’ Campus Store are complete. To celebrate and welcome the campus community to explore the updated Campus Store, the Campus Store is hosting a Back-to-School Bash from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29.

Festivities include entertainment by DJ Shawn Wood, carnival games, snow cones and pizza (served at noon). Prizes ranging from a digital camera, bike, and gift cards will be awarded throughout the day.

The renovation — which began in November 2010 — expanded the store; updated the interior space with new carpeting, lighting, fixtures and more; created a more open floor plan; and added a new glass entrance off of Forsyth Boulevard.

The changes create improved space in the store for academic general books, academic course materials, clothing, gifts and convenience items. It also adds more social spaces.

The renovations also include the addition of FedEx services to the Campus Store. FedEx provides a convenient location for shipping, printing and copying on the Danforth Campus.

“With the remodel, the Campus Store enhances its ability to offer a flexible, comfortable environment to the campus community and to better provide the products and services needed to support the academic mission of the university,” says Campus Store director Betsy Schneider.

Follett Higher Education Group is financially supporting the renovation and worked in collaboration with Mackey Mitchell Architects and Washington University to design the facility.

The Campus Store is located on the Danforth Campus at the university’s Mallinckrodt Center at 6465 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.
