Biography

Garb is author of the books Freedom’s Ballot: African American Political Struggles in Chicago from Abolition to the Great Migration (University of Chicago Press, 2014) and City of American Dreams: A History of Home Ownership and Housing Reform, Chicago 1871-1919 (University of Chicago Press, 2005). Garb is also co-director of Washington University in St. Louis’s Prison Education Program.
