Amanda Moore McBride, PhD, associate dean for social work at the Brown School and director of the Gephardt Institute for Public Service, was named the Brown School’s first career development professor, the Bettie Bofinger Brown Career Development Associate Professor. The honor was bestowed in a ceremony May 6 in Brown Hall Lounge.

Over spring break, Room 37 in the Brown School’s Goldfarb Hall was transformed. For the last eight weeks of the semester, Brown School students in 15 courses took part in an experiment in pedagogy that brings teaching — and learning — into a new era. This isn’t your parents’ lecture hall. Say hello to the wired world of interactive instruction — or active learning.

The Faces of Hope rally got the WUSTL campus ready for the Clinton Global Initiative University. At the rally,the community watched a video message from Chelsea Clinton and learned that WUSTL is committing $30 million to improve energy efficiency and other sustainability efforts on campus.

More than 60 of the 118 innovative, far-reaching projects that Washington University in St. Louis students have committed to accomplish as part of this year’s Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) April 5-7 will be on display at Faces of Hope. Also, WUSTL leaders will announce the university’s institutional Commitment to Action, a significant investment in a more sustainable future, during the event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the Danforth University Center, 6475 Forsyth Blvd.

Health and human services organizations and programs are in constant growth and movement, and the need for effective evaluation of the impact of those initiatives in the community is greater than ever. The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, together with WUSTL’s Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Rome Group, will present a two-day summit, “Evaluation for Social Impact” Oct. 16 and 17 at the studios of the Nine Network in midtown St. Louis.​
