Research as Art, take two
The earth and planetary sciences and physics communities at Washington University gathered April 15 for the second annual Research as Art competition, a chance to consider their research from an aesthetic as well as a scientific point of view.
‘Sincerely, Stone & DeGuire’ opens
The Sam Fox School will present “Sincerely, Stone & DeGuire” at the Des Lee Gallery Jan. 22-Feb. 20. The exhibition collects more than a dozen works by the husband-and-wife artist duo, who met as undergraduate art students.
Art through the lens of a drone
We are living at the dawn of the drone age. In January, the Kemper Art Museum will present “To See Without Being Seen: Contemporary Art and Drone Warfare.” The exhibition raises timely questions about power, technology, surveillance and fear.
Research as art
An inaugural exhibit of images by scientists, titled “Research as Art,” held April 3, included eerie landscapes created by vortices in superfluids, smeared false-color data from satellite-borne instruments, three-dimensional images of grains that exploded out of supernovas and many more enigmatic and colorful images.
