Active Transportation Month promotes alternative commuting
Car Free Month has a new name, but the same goal – to motivate Washington University in St. Louis students, faculty and staff to try new ways to get around town. Now called Active Transportation Month, the annual event starts April 1 and features free bike tune-ups, a breakfast for bikers and a Metro Scavenger Hunt.
April is Car-free Month
Employees and students are encouraged to try different forms of alternative transportation to campus during Car-free Month. Events include free bike tune-ups, a self-guided Metro scavenger hunt to the South Grand neighborhood and the inaugural Bikes in Bowles Block Party
Students celebrate Car-Free Month with bike-in movie at Forest Park
WUSTL students kicked off Car-Free Month Oct. 4 with a bike-in movie at Forest Park. Today is the last day to sign up for the Car-Free Challenge. Other events this month include free bike tune-ups, bike rides and the MetroLink Prom.
Commute without your car during Car-Free Month in April
Faculty, staff and students commuting to all WUSTL campuses are encouraged to leave their sedans, SUVs and minivans in the garage and go “car-free” for April 16-27 as part of the university’s Car-Free Challenge during Car-Free Month. The Car-Free Challenge offers teams of individuals a chance to try alternative means of transportation, track their progress in calories-burned and CO2-saved, and benchmark against other teams.
