Susan Bayliss, MD, is director of pediatric dermatology at the School of Medicine. She uses humor and kindness in connecting with her patients. Most of them are in the St. Louis region, but she also treats children she meets while on medical missions overseas. Wherever she is, her passion for her work is evident.
Cornelius named Showman Professor
Lynn A. Cornelius, chief of the Division of Dermatology at Washington University School of Medicine, has been named the Winfred A. and Emma R. Showman Professor in Dermatology. Cornelius specializes in the treatment and research of melanoma, a deadly skin cancer.
Center for the Study of Itch opens
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has launched its new Center for the Study of Itch, believed to be the world’s first multidisciplinary program designed solely to understand and treat itch. It was established to bring scientists and clinicians together to study the mechanisms that transmit the perception of itch and to translate those findings into better treatments for chronic sufferers.
