Washington University startups well represented at Arch Grants
Arch Grants recently announced its latest cohort of awardees, and once again, Washington University had a strong showing among the selected startups. Of the eleven business awarded $50,000 capital funding grants, four have direct ties to the university.
Global Impact Award winner selected
Now in its second year, the Suren G. Dutia and Jas K. Grewal Global Impact Award is given to Washington University in St. Louis-based entrepreneurs who use technology to solve real-world problems. A total of 19 teams entered this year’s competition, and the winner of the $50,000 prize, announced Nov. 2, is Applied Particle Technology.

A team of Washington University students on the Medical Campus recently won top honors in the Neuro Startup Challenge, a biotech startup competition designed to commercialize promising brain-related discoveries of scientists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).The team developed a business plan to commercialize a test for patients with multiple sclerosis.
Shanghai office opens with innovation and entrepreneurship workshop
In response to a growing number of alumni and expanding
research and education partnerships in China, Washington University in
St. Louis is opening an office in Shanghai’s Knowledge Innovation
Community. “The Shanghai office will serve as a key resource for
our alumni, prospective students and friends,” Chancellor Mark S.
Wrighton said.

A student-led strategic consulting firm, The BALSA Group, is expanding the technology transfer capabilities of the university while broadening career opportunities for its members and supporting local economic growth and development. BALSA has become a national model for similar student groups.
