Parking rates to increase

Parking fees for most Danforth Campus WUSTL employees and students will increase this year. As parking grows more scarce, employees are urged to try carpooling, Metro, cycling or another alternative transportation program. New signage, improved markings for campus bicycle safety

The Forsyth pedestrian and cycling path will get new signage this spring. The new markings, applied directly on the path, will improve legibility and safety, says Andrew Heaslet, alternative transportation coordinator.

Bearly Drivers carpool program celebrates one-year anniversary

The university’s Bearly Drivers carpool program celebrated its one-year anniversary in January by giving away an iPad through a drawing to a Bearly Drivers carpool member. The program, which includes 76 carpool members in 34 carpools, allows full-time employees on the Danforth, North and West campuses to save money through reduced driving and parking costs, reserve in-demand parking spots, and win prizes through monthly drawings.

Students tackle campus parking problem with green solutions

Washington University in St. Louis has more than 12,000 students, 4,500-plus faculty and staff and only 5,168 parking spaces on its Danforth Campus.Students at the Olin Business School saw this problem as a real world business case and decided to tackle it head-on with a competition to inspire innovative solutions to the campus parking challenge with an emphasis on keeping it green.
