Rhodes scholarship

Two Washington University in St. Louis students and a recent alumnus were finalists for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. 

Washington University in St. Louis seniors Camille Borders and Jasmine Brown each have been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship, one of the world’s most prestigious academic honors. They were selected Nov. 18 and are among 32 scholars from the United States. Borders and Brown are Ervin Scholars, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and good friends.

Jasmine Brown, a senior in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, is among 32 students from across the United States chosen Saturday, Nov. 18, as a Rhodes Scholar. One of the world’s most prestigious academic awards, Rhodes Scholarships provide all expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England.

Two Washington University in St. Louis graduates were finalists for a Rhodes Scholarship, one of the world’s most prestigious academic awards: Damari Croswell, an Arts & Sciences alum, and Yidan Qin, an engineering alum.

Joshua Aiken, a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, was one of 32 Americans chosen Nov. 23 as a Rhodes Scholar. Considered among the world’s most prestigious academic awards, Rhodes Scholarships provide all expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England. Aiken plans to study the experience of refugees and asylum seekers.

A current student and a recent alumnus from Washington University in St. Louis have been named Rhodes Scholars. They are Aaron F. Mertz, 22, and Leana S. Wen, 23. The two were among 32 U.S. students chosen for graduate study at the University of Oxford in England. Winners of the highly acclaimed award were selected based on high academic achievement, personal integrity, leadership potential and physical vigor.
