New center focuses on regenerative medicine
A new center has been formed at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis to facilitate research that explores the regenerative properties of cells and tissues. The Center of Regenerative Medicine is headquarted in the recently opened 4515 McKinley Research Building, along with several other School of Medicine centers and divisions.
Sakiyama-Elbert completes leadership program
Shelly Sakiyama-Elbert, PhD, of the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis, recently graduated from Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering (ELATE) at Drexel University, a professional development program for women in academic STEM fields.
Sakiyama-Elbert elected fellow of Biomedical Engineering Society
Shelly Sakiyama-Elbert, PhD, has been elected to the Biomedical Engineering Society Class of 2013 Fellows. Sakiyama-Elbert, professor and associate chair of biomedical
engineering, was one of seven elected to the class. Fellows are selected
for demonstrating exceptional achievements and experience in the
biomedical engineering field and for their membership and participation
in the society.
Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering elect two WUSTL faculty
Two Washington University in St. Louis faculty were among the 79 biomedical engineers and leaders elected this year to the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows.They are Shelly E. Sakiyama-Elbert, PhD, associate professor of biomedical engineering, and Younan Xia, PhD, the James M. McKelvey Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
