Hsu wins Spector Prize
Eric Hsu, a senior majoring in biology in Arts & Sciences, has been awarded the 2019 Spector Prize. The prize recognizes academic excellence and outstanding undergraduate achievement in research.
Shaker wins Spector Prize
Each year, the Department of Biology in Arts & Sciences awards a prize to a graduating senior in memory of Marion Smith Spector, a 1938 graduate who studied zoology under the late Viktor Hamburger. This year’s recipient is Jordan Shaker, who worked in the laboratory of Michael R. Bruchas at the School of Medicine.
Jaspan wins Spector Prize
The Department of Biology in Arts & Sciences has awarded this year’s Spector Prize to Vita Jaspan. The annual award recognizes academic excellence and outstanding undergraduate achievement in research.
Pierson wins Spector Prize
This year, the Spector Prize, given by the Department of Biology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been awarded to Will Pierson. Pierson worked in the lab of Hani Zaher, PhD, assistant professor of biology.
Huang wins this year’s Spector Prize
The Spector Prize, first awarded in 1974, recognizes academic excellence and outstanding undergraduate achievement in research. Students are nominated by their research mentors for outstanding research that has made substantial contributions to a field. This year, the prize has been awarded to Deborah Huang, who plans to
graduate this month with a major in biochemistry and molecular biology
and a minor in public health.
Spector Prize goes to Fahey
The 2012 Spector Prize, which recognizes outstanding undergraduate acheivement in research, has been awarded to Paul Fahey, who graduated in December 2011 summa cum laude with a degree in biology. Fahey worked in the lab of Karen O’Malley, PhD, professor of neurobiology in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the School
of Medicine. His thesis focused on Fragile X syndrome, the most common
form of inherited mental retardation.
Spector Prize goes to Bhide, Leach
This year, the Spector Prize was shared by two recipients: Adeetee Bhide and Matthew Leach. Bhide and Leach were nominated by their research mentors for their outstanding work in research and the substantial contributions they made to their field of work.
