St. Louis Walk of Fame

Nobel laureate Rita Levi-Montalcini, who conducted groundbreaking research during her three decades at Washington University in St. Louis, will be posthumously inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame April 6.

Gerald L. Early, PhD, the Merle Kling Professor of Modern Letters at Washington University in St. Louis, delivered a talk during his induction ceremony into the St. Louis Walk of Fame April 11 on Delmar Boulevard in The Loop. To read the piece, click here.

Professor Gerald L. Early, PhD, an internationally renowned essayist and American culture critic, was recognized with a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame during an April 11 induction ceremony in front of the Moonrise Hotel on Delmar Boulevard in The Loop. His brass star and a bronze plaque will be embedded at a later time near the corner of Delmar and Eastgate Avenue after construction is completed on the first phase of WUSTL’s Loop Student Living Initiative.

Washington University’s Gerald L. Chancellor Emeritus William H. Danforth, MD, spoke about the contributions of Robert S. Brookings to Washington University, St. Louis and the United States during the June 23 dedication of the Brookings star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame. Brookings served as president of WUSTL’s Board of Trustees from 1895-1928. Brookings’ star is located on the corner of Delmar and Skinker boulevards, just outside WUSTL’s Corner Building.

Robert S. Brookings played a pivotal role in the development of what is now WUSTL’s Danforth Campus. He also founded the Brookings Institution, which now enjoys an academic partnership with WUSTL. He will be honored June 22 and 23 with a lecture and a star on St. Louis’ Walk of Fame.
