Janet Owen, technical support specialist in the Sam Fox School​ of Design & Visual Arts, recommends “Rawstock,” a film festival that highlights entertainingly offbeat materials from the University Libraries’ Film & Media Archive. The event takes place at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Melt, 2712 Cherokee St.

​Top national and local designers will showcase their work at runway shows and parties across the region. Fashion Week closes Oct. 18 with the 2014 Midwest Fashion Conference​ at Washington University.  

​LaTanya Buck, director of Washington University’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion, recommends Jose Antonio Vargas’ film “Documented,” which explores what it means to be an American. It will be shown at 7 p.m.  Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Missouri History Museum.

Playwright-in-residence Carter Lewis recommends “Good In Everything,” the new Shakespeare in the Streets adaptation of “As You Like It.” Performances are Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 18-20, in Clayton.

​​Leah Me​rrifield loves attending productions at the Rep, the New Jewish Theatre and the St. Louis Black Rep. She will share other St. Louis gems tonight at the St. Louis Up Close presentation in the Danforth University Center. 

​​Steven Rosenblum, who works in Arts & Sciences, recommends checking out LouFest this weekend, adding that the music festival is family-friendly. Founded by WUSTL’s Brian Cohen, the two-day event features four stages of music in Forest Park. Highlights include Outkast, Arctic Monkeys, Cake and Grouplove. 

Senior drama major Sarah Palay recommends  Mainstreet Musicals – St. Louis Festival, a showcase for new works created by St. Louis writers, producers and actors. It takes place this weekend in Forest Park.

WUSTL media specialist and LouFest founder Brian Cohen recommends tonight’s Lost in the Trees concert. The band’s newest album bursts with energy and catchy songwriting.

Don’t miss this beautiful classical concert in the Cathedral Basilica, featuring St. Louis’ world-renowned orchestra and choir. With an 8-second sound delay in the hall, the music of Bruckner, Vaughan Williams and Messiaen literally will be bouncing off the walls, immersing you in sound.

Video producer Thomas J. Malkowicz recommends the Banff Mountain Film Fesitval World Tour. He says St. Louis is lucky to be a stop on the globetrotting tour, which showcases heart-stopping short films about adventure, travel and the environment.
