Employees invited to support United Way through community service

For years, Washington University in St. Louis faculty and staff have supported the United Way through their generous financial support. Now, they may also give their time. Washington University Human Resources and WashU Engage have joined together to help employees find volunteer opportunities in the St. Louis community. As an incentive, the university will provide up to a half day for employees to volunteer.

Washington University employees exceed United Way Goal

Washington University in St. Louis employees donated more than $778,000 to the 2014 United Way of Greater St. Louis workplace campaign, surpassing its goal by $68,000. The money will support 170 local agencies that address education, health, hunger, poverty, unemployment and other urgent issues.

Give Thanks Give Back campaign enters final week ​

Student organizers of “Give Thanks Give Back” — Washington University’s annual holiday gift drive in support of the 100 Neediest Cases — set a goal of adopting 125 families this year. Now, halfway to their goal and in the final week of the campaign, they are asking more members of the WUSTL community to adopt a family in need.

WUSTL United Way campaign kicks off

Thanks in part to the support of the United Way, the St. Louis Area Foodbank distributed 25 million pounds of food to those in need in the bi-state region last year. The WUSTL community can help the United Way support organizations like the Foodbank by contributing to the 2012 United Way campaign, which began Sept. 6. 

WUSTL exceeds 2011 United Way goal

Thanks to the generosity of Washington University’s faculty, staff and retirees, thousands in the St. Louis community will receive hot meals, job training and warm clothes for the winter. The WUSTL community has raised more than $686,000 in its United Way of Greater St. Louis campaign, surpassing the university’s stated goal of $650,000.

WUSTL supports 100 Neediest Cases

‘Give Thanks Give Back,’ WUSTL’s annual holiday gift drive in support of the 100 Neediest Cases, is under way. Members of the university community are encouraged to consider adopting an area family in need. The drive runs through Wednesday, Nov. 16.

WUSTL’s United Way campaign under way

Halfway through the WUSTL 2011 United Way campaign, the university community has raised approximately $450,000 toward its goal of $650,000 to support more than 170 United Way of Greater St. Louis agencies. These agencies — which offer an array of services to the St. Louis community — serve a large, diverse population of more than 1 million people each year in 16 counties in Missouri and Illinois, approximately one of every three in the St. Louis area.

Prenatt leads WUSTL’s United Way success

With $715,540 raised for the United Way by WUSTL in 2010, the university has exceeded its United Way fundraising goal for five consecutive years. In February, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton formally thanked Ann Prenatt, vice chancellor for human resources, for her excellent work leading WUSTL’s annual United Way campaign, presenting her with a certificate of recognition.

Thousands in the St. Louis community will benefit from the generosity of Washington University’s faculty, staff and retirees. The university has raised more than $651,000 in its United Way of Greater St. Louis campaign, surpassing its stated goal of $615,000.
