Nurturing during preschool years boosts children’s brain growth

Children whose mothers were nurturing during the preschool years, as opposed to later in childhood, have more robust growth in brain structures associated with learning, memory and stress response, according to new university research.

Bill T. Jones to receive university’s International Humanities Medal

Dancer and choreographer Bill T. Jones will receive the university’s 2016 International Humanities Medal. The medal honors the lifetime work of a noted scholar, writer or artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of letters or the arts.

University partnership leads to public-health program in Haiti

A partnership between Washington University and Université Publique du Nord au Cap-Haitien in Haiti has led to creation of a new public-health program. Set to begin enrollment this fall, it will be the country’s first undergraduate public-health degree program.
